Lancashire and South Cumbria set to benefit from investment in NHS services

£21 million of capital investment from Government for Lancashire and South Cumbria will see the development of an Integrated Acute Mental Health Hub and an upgrade to the emergency department and critical care at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

The successful schemes include:

• £8.1 million investment in a Fylde Coast Integrated Acute Mental Health Hub with Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust
• £12.9 million investment in the emergency department and critical care at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

Health and Social Care Secretary Matt Hancock has today announced plans to give more patients world-class care in world-class facilities - as part of a major investment in the long-term future of the NHS – with two of the successful schemes set to benefit people in Lancashire and South Cumbria.

NHS organisations in Lancashire and South Cumbria worked in partnership to develop a robust approach prioritising capital schemes for the region and this announcement sees the investment for two of the top four schemes.

This investment will support us to make faster progress on improving mental health and A&E facilities which will help to improve lives for people across our region.”
