New Every Mind Matters campaign encourages people to prioritise their mental health
Date posted: 10th August 2021The easing of lockdown restrictions across the country has left many people feeling anxious about a long-awaited return to normality. To help navigate these changes, Public Health England (PHE) has launched the nationwide Better Health – Every Mind Matters campaign, which now offers practical tips, expert advice and an NHS-approved personalised mental health action plan.
Recent research has revealed that the Covid-19 pandemic has had a negative impact on the mental health of many and as circumstances continue to change, it is normal to feel nervous about what the future holds.
By visiting the Every Mind Matters website (opens in a new window), you can gain access to a personalised action plan with practical tips to help you deal with stress and anxiety, boost your mood, sleep better and feel more in control. This is complemented by the Covid-19 content hub, which includes tips and support on coping with money worries, job uncertainty and how to ease back into socialising at your own pace.
Following these simple steps towards achieving good mental health is essential for improving not just the overall quality of your life, but that of others too. The website offers a range of dedicated resources to help parents look after the mental wellbeing of their children and self-care tips for young people to care for their own mental health. There is also further guidance from NHS experts and advice from people with lived experience of common mental health problems.
Dr Jim Hacking, GP Executive Lead for Mental Health and Urgent Care, Morecambe Bay CCG, said:
"I think it’s important to remember that mental health matters just as much as physical health, so there should be no delay in seeking help where needed. The pandemic has been tough and as we ease back into what we call ‘normal life’, there can be uncertainties and anxieties about what ‘normal’ should look like. The Every Mind Matters campaign offers a range of great tools and resources to help people manage their concerns as lockdown restrictions ease. I encourage everyone to make use of these resources to support not just themselves, but those around them too”.
Over 3.3 million people have already taken their first step towards achieving improved mental health and received a personalised NHS-endorsed Mind Plan. Search Every Mind Matters to find out more or visit the website (opens in a new window).
